Q & A
The bottom bracket is threaded so by default the dirt and grit cannot travel along the threads.
It will fit if it's the external type.
HI Brett, if it's the threaded BB version then yes, it's a drop in replacement. Usually the stock BB in this case will have something like 1.37 x 24 written on it.
This is a how long is a piece of string question so for some guidance. If it's summer riding in the dry only and you don't put high torque through then it should go for 2-3 summers. The biggest problem and route to primary bearing failure on a bike is via contamination. If you end up getting some grit in the bearing then bearing life will diminish rapidly. You can spec full contact seals if you need the protection but the drawback is a big increase in drag. A lot of people use the non contact and then flush the bearings out every weekend. Unfortunately it's impossible to have good sealing and low friction, it's one or the other. By default this bottom bracket is setup for low drag but as mentioned you can spec full seals if you wish - just use the order notes box when ordering.
On a 68mm frame and HT2 you don't need a spacer.
