Precision Engineered and Manufactured in the United Kingdom

Hambini Bottom Brackets are amongst the lowest friction bottom brackets in the world. They are used by recreational cyclists, road racers, triathletes and time trialists from around the globe. They are of proven design and are manufactured in the United Kingdom. These units are of a one piece construction which makes them inherently resistant to creak, they will maintain perfect bearing alignment and function under loads in excess of 4000W.

Hambini Bottom Bracket Reviewed by an Engineer

Hassle-Free Maintenance

All Hambini bottom brackets can be installed and removed with a conventional bearing press, they use a controlled method of installation using the recommended fitting adaptors, they require no hammers or specialized tooling for removal. Additionally, the wearing component – the bearings – can be serviced in situ or removed within just a few minutes. The bottom bracket has been designed to be fully rebuildable.

Unrivalled Performance

Unloaded bearing spin tests are a poor measure of frictional performance but they do highlight good bearing alignment. The link below is to a video of a Hambini Racing Bottom Bracket that had completed 10,000km

Class Leading Parasitic Drag Loss (Friction)

The graph below shows how Hambini bottom brackets perform in comparison to the bottom brackets of other manufacturers. The test conditions model real world cycling and more importantly mimics realistic frame tolerances. All of these tests have been conducted with an eccentricity of 0.1mm which is generally the maximum permitted in frame specifications – the reality is tolerances have been known to be much worse than this. Misalignment is more critical to friction than the type of bearing ball material, a slight misalignment can easily outweigh the difference between a top of the range NTN bearing and a mediocre ebay no name bearing. The results show that bottom brackets which have an element of structural linkage between the drive and non-drive sides (one piece/threaded etc) perform much better than those which are multi piece.

The high torque and low RPM of pedaling causes high Hertzian contact stresses on bearing surfaces which cause friction levels to change over time. Those bottom brackets which have used ceramic bearings, start off with fairly low levels of friction but over time their friction increases dramatically. The super hard ceramic balls grind a track into the comparatively soft bearing races causing friction to increase. This would be analogous to trying to drive a locomotive train on a road, the wheels would cut grooves into the road surface due to the huge difference in surface hardness.

Bottom Bracket Stiffness

A Hambini BB is a one piece bottom bracket. It actively contributes to the stiffness of the bike’s pedaling platform. Threaded and multi piece bottom brackets have an element of play in their design so they do not contribute anywhere near a comparative level of stiffness. Reviewers of Hambini BB’s often comment on their feeling of improved stiffness, this is due to them being one piece and undergoing a proprietary heat treatment process. This makes them stronger and stiffer. This is a difference the end user cannot see – but they can feel.

  1. M Klein

I like to support UK manufacturers, so I bought this one. Well priced and well made, went in easily with the press that I also bought from here. I would definitely recommend it. Customer service for answering questions is very good.

  2. melody_racer

I had a problem where the bottom bracket got destroyed in the post. Another one for an improvement in packaging please… However customer service from Hambini is first rate. New bottom bracket and some other bits sent out straight away. I received them the day after. Usually I think that seller’s don’t give a **** but clearly this one does not, very apologetic and he did all he could to sort me out. As for the bottom bracket, just like everyone else says it’s of the highest order. Beautifully machined and polished finish. Bearings are super smooth, no flex and no creak.

  3. V333Max

I couldn’t be happier with this BB. The buying experience is a breath of fresh air. No pressure, quick detailed responses and furthermost don’t underestimate the advantage of buying a product from the guy who makes it – it’s priceless. My BB woes have all gone. Total silence. Even under full load in a crit sprint there is no sign of any movement. NTN bearings run super smoothly. It is difficult to put into words how happy I am with this. I have recommended it to all of my cycling buddies. The headline price is a lot but once you try the product and the service, it’s worth every cent.

  4. KBerry

Much stiffer and faster than OEM. Lovely to hold and look at.

  5. ParkLin

No problems with the packaging. Functional… When you take the bottom bracket out, it is beautiful. It is immediately obvious that this has been designed by someone who is at the top of his game. I bought this on the strength of his youtube channel and like others I was dubious as to whether he was the real deal. No question whatsoever, this bottom bracket is way better than anything else I tried. I took it to the local bike shop to install and watched them install it. The mechanic said it was the best bottom bracket he had come across and wanted to know where I got it from. It is super smooth and on the way home there were no creaks, pops or bangs. When getting on the power, the bottom bracket area feels way stiffer than it did before. It’s hard to describe but it’s like a direct no flex feeling. A word on customer service, no issues and any questions were promptly answered. It’s like having a walking encyclopedic knowledge at the other end of email. Hambini doesn’t have a phone number, I guess that’s because he has a day job. THat’s the only negative point.

  6. Kenny Balterio

Hambini clearly doesn’t do retail but what he does do is make very good bottom brackets. In this consumer led society I can see why people make fun of his packaging but the small details like a recycled box and a rampant lie on the customs documentation means the end customer doesn’t have to pay import tax. This bottom bracket is ridiculously well made. It went in easily. Pedalling on it is a joy. I didn’t have any creak but I wanted something that was super stiff. This fitted the bill. Buy one, you won’t regret it.

  7. Bryston Cameron

I wandered around endless bike forums listening to the usual know it alls before someone directed me over to a complete unknown guy called Hambini who has what I can best describe as a particular style on YouTube where he generally bumbles around northern Europe interspersed with some really good engineering videos. After binge watching, I contacted him with my problem. A swift email exchange later and the (in)famous recycled brown box arrived at my door. Opened the box and **** me it’s like pandora’s cave. It’s beautiful. So smooth and i couldn’t stop touching it. Fitting was easy, everything lined up like a good one and off I went. Immense difference, not a hint of a creak and so stiff to pedal on. A work of art. His bumbling on YouTube is a facade. When he is in engineering mode, he is very switched and a consummate professional. Dealing with him is a breath of fresh air.

  8. NikosKD

This just works. No fuss and no drama. You can feel the difference as soon as you crank the watts up. Like no other.

  9. Jimmy Klien

Excellent bottom bracket, delivered quickly, fits well and well made.

  10. DEVe3

Amazing… Got the PF86 after it was released, slotted in easily and chainline is spot on. I didn’t bother with the loctite and it doesn’t creak at all. You can feel the difference

  11. Henry Atkins

Another believer, I purchased this to convert from the stock Rotor crank to a Shimano crank. I had contemplated the conversion kits from wheels mfg and praxis but went for this one. I don’t regret it all. It is very well made and you have technical support that is in a league of one. Fast, prompt, courteous. This is how all companies should be. On another note, his YouTube channel rocks.

  12. Matthias K.

Quick delivery. Wonderful piece of engineering. Thank you very much!

  13. Matthew F.

fits my Focus Izalco Max perfectly and the cranks practically spin themselves now

  14. James S.

First rate product & service. This is the second bike that I have put one on.

  15. Steven B.

On the expensive side , but fits well and rides well, a fw issues with the fit, but al sorted with help from the 5yr old.

  16. dckubler

Just perfect, Precise enough to be a piece of art. Too bad most of it is hidden by the bike. Installation went smoothly. After putting the cranks on a bonus feature was obvious. The exterior is perfectly smooth, no dirt retaining indentations for a BB wrench.

  17. Martin F.

    Smooth running bottom bracket

  18. Richard J.

Arrived on time and fitting was pretty straightforward once I got the right loctite and accelerator. No problems so far but only a couple of hundred k’s so far. Happy customer.

  19. Basil H.

The BB arrived super fast and it came with the important bits that I needed to install. I took it out of the package and admired this incredible piece of engineering – a work of art in every way. I went to the hardware store got a 8 X 1/2 screw with some nuts and washers and I was set. It installed like butter. I will never go back to crap bottom brackets after having experienced the Hambini BB. In true Hambini fashion, the Hambini BB is truly “The Dog’s Dollocks” and worth every penny…

  20. Kelly N.

It’s perfect! Probably the best-made thing I’ve ever bought. Silenced my click and I am a super happy camper now. Delivery to Denver, CO only took about 6 days as well. Thx Habini!

  21. Jacob J.

This part shipped to me in the U.S. quickly and flawlessly, and Hambini kept frequent and clear communication throughout the process.

The Bottom Bracket installation was extremely easy and user friendly, and interfaced my Shimano DXR (Hollowtech II) cranks to my STAAT’S PF30 race frame perfectly.

The ride is smooth, I feel extremely little resistance pedaling, and there’s no trace of any creaking or related noise.

Overall, I don’t think you’re going to have an easy time finding a better BB on the market, and I am proud to be sporting Hambini on my dream bike!

  22. martin c.

The price above is without vat. Still worth it though. A perfectly smooth set of top quality bearings that will last for years if looked after. When they do wear out easilly changed for a new set of top bearings. High quality and well engineered products. Why put cheap shite on your expensive carbon bike when you can have this?

  23. Anonymous

Product fit and worked perfectly. In addition, Hambini was very responsive in assisting with disassembly of the prior product that this was replacing, that was not a Hambini product. Great customer service and great product.

  24. Jacobus

    A noticeable to significant difference

  25. lukas g.

fast shipment great product, thanks to the 5j.o =)

  26. John L.

    Great quality and so smooth

  27. Malcolm H.

Hambini exchanged an incorrectly ordered (on my part) BB30 quickly and without fuss. The correct replacement PF30 BB is of top quality and super smooth. The service was exceptional especially from a 5 year old 😉

  28. Darryl William

Excellent product and product service. Would buy again and highly recommend. An engineer and designer that goes the extra distance.

  29. Carsten Machholdt

This is my best investment for the bike. Highly recomended.

  30. Chris

A beautiful thing, Hambini was very helpful answering a few questions I had prior to installation. Installation itself was a breeze, and it is wonderfully smooth in action.

  31. Michael Rajewski

It’s refreshing to deal with an attentive, engaged, and dutiful business owner who takes immense pride in the quality of the products he provides. I get it, one needs to make a decent profit to justify the time and materials and there certainly are less expensive products on the market – but for my money, I’d much rather support this man than any “big name” competitor out there. I spent some time contemplating my options before going this route but ultimately the quality of the product and the quality of the person behind the brand sealed the deal.

Hambini has always been very helpful with technical questions. His products are very high quality! I think I am qualified to make this statement, as an occupation I work on and build very precise manufacturing equipment.

  35. michael tetley

    Exceptional BB!!!
    Excellent customer service.

  36. James

A clearly well made bottom bracket, the difference it has made since installation is incredible. I highly recommend one of these for anyone with any sort of BB issues.

  37. Chuck Linville

Purchased approximately 2 months ago but did not install while waiting for my ne crankset. Cranks finally arrived and I installed BB and cranks over the weekend. Installation was simple – great instructions on the site – and the cranks spin effortlessly in the bottom bracket. Previous bottom bracket was creaking after a few minutes into a ride. This problem is now solved!

Note: BB installed in a Niner RLT9 RDO. I measured the PF30 frame opening and it checked between 46.05 and 46.1mm on both sides. I believe the review you did on a Niner MTB was a counterfeit Niner – the logos were wrong and based on my sample size of one, the tolerances on the real Niner PF30 shell are pretty good, unlike the one you were given to sort out.

A well made Bottom bracket, simple in design , made to spec, svelte looking but you know it does as it says on the tin.

  42. John K.

My second Hambini BB and another outstanding engineered bottom bracket. Comes with the bearing press pieces. Well worth the price!

Q & A

Would this PF30 be the correct bottom bracket For Cannondale System Six 2021 Frame? Thank you. David Brunner asked on March 1, 2023

I'm pretty sure your bike would have a PF30A bottom bracket, you would need this bottom bracket https://www.hambini.com/product/pf30a-to-shimano-racing-edition-black-bottom-bracket/

Would this PF30 be the correct bottom bracket to replace a FSA crankset/bottom bracket with a Shimano GRX crankset in a 2020 GT Grade carbon frame? Gram asked on December 22, 2021

From the GT website, it looks to be correct. You must make sure your frame hole is free of obstructions though.
