Precision Engineered

Hambini Bottom Brackets are amongst the lowest friction bottom brackets in the world. They are used by recreational cyclists, road racers, triathletes and time trialists from around the globe. They are of proven design and are manufactured to Aerospace tolerances, using Aerospace materials by an Aerospace Engineer. These units are of a one piece construction which makes them inherently resistant to creak, they will maintain perfect bearing alignment and function under loads in excess of 4000W.

Hassle-Free Maintenance

All Hambini bottom brackets can be installed and removed with a conventional bearing press, they use a controlled method of installation using the recommended fitting adaptors, they require no hammers or specialized tooling for removal. Additionally, the wearing component – the bearings – can be serviced in situ or removed within just a few minutes. The bottom bracket has been designed to be fully rebuildable.

Unrivalled Performance

Unloaded bearing spin tests are a poor measure of frictional performance but they do highlight good bearing alignment. The link below is to a video of a Hambini Racing Bottom Bracket that had completed 10,000km

Class Leading Parasitic Drag Loss (Friction)

The graph below shows how Hambini bottom brackets perform in comparison to the bottom brackets of other manufacturers. The test conditions model real world cycling and more importantly mimics realistic frame tolerances. All of these tests have been conducted with an eccentricity of 0.1mm which is generally the maximum permitted in frame specifications – the reality is tolerances have been known to be much worse than this. Misalignment is more critical to friction than the type of bearing ball material, a slight misalignment can easily outweigh the difference between a top of the range NTN bearing and a mediocre ebay no name bearing. The results show that bottom brackets which have an element of structural linkage between the drive and non-drive sides (one piece/threaded etc) perform much better than those which are multi piece.

The high torque and low RPM of pedaling causes high Hertzian contact stresses on bearing surfaces which cause friction levels to change over time. Those bottom brackets which have used ceramic bearings, start off with fairly low levels of friction but over time their friction increases dramatically. The super hard ceramic balls grind a track into the comparatively soft bearing races causing friction to increase. This would be analogous to trying to drive a locomotive train on a road, the wheels would cut grooves into the road surface due to the huge difference in surface hardness.

Bottom Bracket Stiffness

A Hambini BB is a one piece bottom bracket. It actively contributes to the stiffness of the bike’s pedaling platform. Threaded and multi piece bottom brackets have an element of play in their design so they do not contribute anywhere near a comparative level of stiffness. Reviewers of Hambini BB’s often comment on their feeling of improved stiffness, this is due to them being one piece and undergoing a proprietary heat treatment process. This makes them stronger and stiffer. This is a difference the end user cannot see – but they can feel.

I installed this in my brand new S5 as part of a new build. It spins well and is super stiff.

  2. Juan Santos

This is well designed and thought out. Installation is easy, a couple nuts and 1/2″ bar did the job with the included drifts. Once in, it spins so smoothly. I done about 500 miles on it and no regrets.

  3. ThecerveloUser

Awesome product. Delivery only took 4 days and was very easy to install. No more creak for my cervelo.

  4. Dave Schultzer

Not often you see something made in UK any more. This is well made and the service and support backing it up are of the highest order. Very impressed. This is a quality item but carries a basement price tag.

  5. G Smith

I have a Cervelo S3 and since day one it has creaked. I have tried numerous different bottom brackets and all developed creak. I was alerted to Hambini Engineering by one of my cycling club mates and his videos on YouTube. I contacted him, he advised which bottom bracket to get, the limitations and anything else I could do to help. No pressure sales whatsoever. Responses are quick and thorough, this is the benefit of dealing with the man who makes your equipment. 3 days later I installed the new bottom bracket and I have not looked back. My only regret is not buying one sooner. It is so well made it seems sad to hide most of it away in the frame. Pedalling up hill is no longer a constant headache of noise, it’s totally silent and the power delivery feels so much stronger.

  6. J Solo

Excellently designed and manufactured product that is a huge improvement on Cervelo’s original. Smooth pedalling and creak free now. Happy days ! Thankyou Hambini.

  7. Steve Thistle

I had been postponing spending any more money on my Cervelo, but started to once again notice creaking from my bottom bracket. it had been replaced once already in its 4 year old lifetime. looked on line and after reviewing Mr. Hambini’s youtube videos and enjoying his reviews and rants, I decided i would purchase one of his bottom brackets. I had a friend (with his set of proper bike tools) install my bottom bracket. I was a bit nervous about the quality of my frame and the tolerance issues, but the installation went great, popped in, locked in and rotating smoother than Ron Burgundy! All good! would highly recommend anything from Hambini. He was quick to respond to emails, and offered assistance if and when needed. Not sure if he ever sleeps.

  8. S Breen

This BB is a great choice if you are wanting to fit Shimano. I went from a Rotor 3D to DA9100. It fits perfectly, there is no creak and the cranks turn forever. Expensive but machining quality and engineering are worth it.

  9. Richie Thorpe

A transformation from the Rotor cups that were in before. Feels solid and transfers more power.

  10. Matthew C.

    Very high quality product.
Installation is straightforward, and has resolved creaking BB issues.
    Easy transaction and fast delivery.
