Got a Hambini look 695 BB installed on my bike and so far it’s been exceptional, the ZED 2 was stiff but this seems so much stiffer, why I changed to this BB, I was having issues getting ZED 2 bearings and parts so after getting the whole unit fixed I decided to take it off for when I go to sell the bike to keep it original and use the hambini BB in the mean time, I have a feeling it will be the bikes selling point if I ever sell it, unlikly as I love my look bike, pity about the suppliers and shop owners support for them? the power seems to go right to the wheels it’s hard to explain, climbing, exceleration and sustaining of speed is very noticable and exceptionally smooth along with using a shimano chainring, chain and cassette together feels so much better, I use garmin pedals and right away the power was up for a reason I don’t understand maybe the pedals are off maybe the BB is making a stiffer more efficient transfer of power, anyway I’m not saying no to it, my mechanic who fitted it could’t believe how smooth it was, it really makes the bike so much more enjoyable to ride. I’m still breaking it in after a few weeks and haven’t gone full trottle 48 hour ultra racing torture on it yet, but the more I push it the better it responds. Thanks Hambini really enjoying it now.

    Outstanding

Superb BB and SMR Hambini was very responsive with queries and followed up closely on delivery.

    Beautiful design!
Few noticeable improvements on my usual routes:
    1. Creaking noise coming from my left crank is completely gone. Boost in spiritual watts.
    2. Pedal feels smoother, increase in average cadence with same perceived effort on same routes.
    3. Power pedals are reading at least 10W higher with same perceived effort (increase in average speed) – to be analysed further.

    Overall, very happy and impressed!

I purchased the BB65 for my Look 695 and it arrived within a few days. The bottom bracket is of very high quality, as you’d expect from this particular 5 year old, and it was simple to install with the fitting tools I ordered. I found there was a noticeable difference over the Zed 2 crank which came with the bike, which was already pretty good to start with. It now feels extremely smooth on every single pedal stroke and is also very quiet. All the power I put through the pedals feels like it’s going directly into the rear wheel. I’m very pleased with the outcome. Cheers Hambini

Awesome except it a very long time to get but awesome can’t enough about the bottom bracket

I was forced to ditch the ZED crankset and thought I would have to get rid of my 695 in the process. This fixed that problem and gave the bike a new lease of life. Extremely well made, fit and function are like nothing else.

    fantastic bb

Was easy to assemble and works very smoothly.I feel good that you need to use less energy during the ride.
    Thx Rik

Will the installation tool used in your YT video ever become available for purchase? Witold Laszcz asked on April 12, 2023

It's unlikely to. Most people use a pin spanner - it was designed for installation with this type of tool.

admin answered on April 12, 2023 store manager

Hi and thanks. I may have to remove the bb at some point in time pretty soon to repair cracks that appear around the shell on the drive side, but having installed the bb with Loctite 641 (allowed 72 hours for it to set properly), now the thing won't budge when I am trying to undo it and a 2 pin spanner will disengage if I try applying even more torque. Having more pin engagement on each side and being able to tie the cups with a threaded bar and nuts would help with the task. Also, with 2 pin spanners one wouldn't be able to know what torque is 40Nm.

I can probably machine you one up if you need it. If you ping me an email, I can sort that.

Would there be an issue installing this bb on a frame that came with the ZED 3 crank set where both bearings are an interference fit on the frame? Witold Laszcz asked on February 12, 2023

I would recommend, warming the frame slightly and applying grease on the interface.

Would there be an advantage in this bb over the previous version with no threaded on lock ring? I own the previous bb and am happy with how it performs when the bearings are new, but the bearing lifespan I have seen, and I have only ever used NTN purchased from yourself, was quite short. The newest replacement only lasted less than 1000km, before the bb started creaking again. I removed the bb from the shell last night and was surprised by the amount of a black residue / dirt that was on the outside surface of both flanges. Would replacing the old bb with this updated one help with the bearing life span, or would it be enough if I used Loctite 641 to re-install the bb in the shell instead of using grease? Thanks and regards. WITOLD LASZCZ asked on December 6, 2022

The newer variant of the BB won't assist with bearing life. If you are getting reduced bearing life, it's worth moving to bearings with full seals like NTN 6806LLU. The LLB are very good if you are in dry conditions but running in the rain requires frequent maintenance (ie replacing the grease frequently)

.

WITOLD LASZCZ answered on December 19, 2022

The problem is I don't ride in wet weather. I will still go out for a ride if the road surfacing isn't 100% dry after an earlier spell of rain and might end up having to ride through a puddle a couple of times within the usual distance I ride, but given the bearing is protected to a degree with the plastic dust cap, I am surprised such circumstances can kill a bearing within a meagre 800km, but maybe I underestimate the impact. I will try installing bearings with LLU seals next time and see if that makes any difference.

WITOLD LASZCZ answered on December 19, 2022

I have just realised the bearings one of which failed so quickly were ones with full contact seals from my previous order. They have orange colour seals, and not the black ones as on the NTN with light contact bearings. I am completely lost now with what to do about this issue???
